Barranco, revised
Forgot to log:
This past Thursday, went to Barranco during the day. I’d only previously gone to Barranco at night, to one eerie street where the bars and nightclubs were, so I had a pretty bad impression of the place. But by day, Barranco is a bohemian treasure.
We walked into a very interesting art museum (I love walking into admission-free museums), and afterwards strolled around shopping and looking for a coffeeshop. This was a protracted process, because all we could find were restaurants and bars. After our coffee and bread, we set off in search for a movie theatre. No luck. Went in search for a bar. We then proceeded to get very lost and took an enormous hour-long detour, passing the same old deserted house three times and the same exact mutt twice. Ironically we found a wonderful coffee shop but I think we missed all the bars by a block. Finally, got back to bar central and unfortunately walked into a very expensive bar (“Limabar”). Lame, but a decent night.
Barranco’s famous for its nightlife but its cobblestoned alleyways, trendy restaurants, and great ambience are not to be missed during the day.
The photos don’t quite capture it– I didn’t take any along the street. I didn’t bring my bigass Nikon so these pictures were taken with a (in my opinion) crappy Sony digital camera. But, I had a lot of fun my computer afterwards.
